The work we do with the Armed Forces community gives us a unique insight into the financial lives of those who serve.

Whether it’s understanding our clients through our consultations or collecting data from Units via our Financial Wellbeing Surveys, we’ve been able to crunch the numbers.

We know how much of a problem debt is.  We know how well Armed Forces personnel understand their pension scheme.  We know how unpopular completing and monitoring a monthly budget is (we built a tool to help with that).  We also know that the Armed Forces community buy a lot of insurance, particularly Life and Critical Illness cover.

Why does the Armed Forces Community need a Life Insurance Calculator?

Of all the different products on offer, Life and Critical Illness insurance is arguably one of the most important strategies you can use to secure your financial future if the worst should happen.

With a bewildering array of options, providers and small print, it not surprising that these types of policies are often misunderstood by consumers.

Our aim is to make the process of buying life insurance as simple as possible, ensuring you, the consumer, fully understand what you’ve bought and why.

Shouldi has been designed to be thought provoking and insightful.  Developed to eradicate poor decisions, chase away doubt, leaving you confident in your purchase.

Using Shouldi will give you the peace of mind that if something bad does happen, you’ll know that you have a plan in place so that you and your family will be alright.

How does Shouldi, the life insurance calculator work?

Based on a few questions, we’ll tell you if life cover, critical illness and income protection are right for you, how much cover you would need and how long it should last.

If you don’t need any cover, we’ll tell you that too.

You can use shouldi in two ways:

1. To understand what cover you need
2. To understand what cover your partner should have to make sure you’d be ok financially if something happened to them

To get you covered we’ll:

1. Ask you questions about your family and lifestyle; helping you understand if you would benefit from life insurance, critical illness and income protection.
2. As we identify areas in your life that you need cover for, we’ll start to understand how much cover you need and for how long
3. If you have a good reason to buy cover, using your answers, we’ll design a bespoke solution for you including what type and how much cover you need, and how long it should last.
4. Get your quotes.  As a member of the Armed Forces you need to be picky when it comes to insurance providers.  Not all companies treat military personnel the same. We’ll work with you to ensure you get the best quality for the best price, irrespective of your job.

What can I use Shouldi for?

There are three main uses for Shouldi:

1. Find out if you or your partner need either Life Cover, Critical Illness or Income Protection insurance
2. If you’ve never bought life cover before, use Shouldi to build a policy to ensure that you and your loved ones are looked after
3. Compare an existing policy against the guidance from Shouldi to find out if your currenct cover is still right for you
